Shirley was born May 22, 1943 in Van Buren, Arkansas to Foster Thomas and Raye Everly Thomas. She was raised in Arkansas until around 11 years old when the family moved to California in the Porterville area. She quit school at 15 to help her mother take care of her younger siblings when her father was killed in an automobile accident.
She was married to Thomas Morris, and two children were born to this union, Daniel and Katherine. They moved from Los Angeles to Fresno where they spent their marriage.
She met and married Destry Miller in Woodward, Ok. They were inseparable for the 25 years that they were married. She passed away July 5, at home from an extended illness.
She held many occupations throughout her life. She worked at Olan MIlls and as a waitress at various locations, including The Wayfarer Restaurant and Buffy's Buffet. Her passion was singing. She was a professional singer with her band The Country Revolution. Performing at countless clubs and venues. She retired from it as she found God and became a servant the Lord's. Her church homes were Living Word Fellowship and Cross Pointe Church. She will be missed by all of her hugging buddies at Wal-mart and various locations around town.
She is survived by her husband Destry, of the home. Son Daniel, of Meno, Ok. Daughter and son in law Kathy and Richard Rumery of La Pine, Or. Granddaughters Michelle, Katrina, Brittany, Danielle, and Valerie. 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Alice, David, James, Sandra, and Donna. And daughter in law Mary Morris.
