Ruth Marie Bird
Ruth Bird, 91 year old, Mooreland resident died Thursday, February 20, 2020 in Mooreland. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward. Burial will follow at the Liberty Cemetery.

Ruth Marie (Stevenson) Bird was born on November 7, 1928 about 10 miles south east of Quinlan to Clyde Wesley and Opal Fern (Cleckner) Stevenson. She was reared in the Quinlan area and attended Mayfield (Garvey) Schools through the 8th grade and then Quinlan High School. After graduating Ruth attended some sewing and computer classes. On November 9, 1946 she was united in marriage to Melvin Leo Bird. The two made there home on a farm southeast of Quinlan. The couple moved around to numerous places before making there home in Mooreland in 2004.

Ruth worked for the Meadow Gold Milk Company, and later worked in the Safeway Meat Packing plant for 35 years before retiring in 1991. She enjoyed camping, fishing and sewing. Her favorite thing was being a mother and grandmother and spending time with her family. She truly enjoyed working in Children's Church and had a special way with all children. She had a deep abiding faith in God and was a member of the Cross Point Church.

Ruth worked as a Volunteer at Cowtown Museum in Wichita, Kansas for many years as part of the Re-Enactment cast. She also worked in the General Store for a short time.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Larry Bird, Gary Bird and wife Valorie; brother, John Stevenson and wife Phyllis; sisters, Doris Eifert, Jean Wilcox and husband Garry, and Vinita Ware; sister-in-law, Carolyn Stevenson; grandchildren, Larry Gene (L.G.) Bird, Michael Bird and wife Diana, Crystal Hayes and husband Carl; great grandchildren, Patrick Bird, Roselene Bird, Brandon Strange, Tristan Strange, Kaitlyn Hayes, Christian Bird, and Elizabeth Bird; great, great grandchildren, Noah Bird and Celeste Estes.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Bird; parents, Clyde and Fern Stevenson; brothers, Wayne Stevenson, Merlyn Lee Stevenson, Leon Stevenson, Jim Stevenson and Duane Stevenson, daughter-in-law, Betty Bird and grandchildren, Shelly Bird and Kelly Bird.
