MURRAY MARCUS (MARC)HOLCOMB Obituary

Murray Marcus (Marc) Holcomb, 78, died on Monday, December 13, 2010 of brain cancer.  He was born in Buffalo, Oklahoma on November 23, 1932 and resided there his entire life.  He attended Oklahoma A&M and the University of Oklahoma, then went to OU law school receiving his law degree in 1956. He practiced law in Harper County until April of this year for 54 years. He was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shriners. He also farmed and ranched most of his life. Marc was a leader in the community and a man of core values driven by work ethic, education and family.  He married Betty Joan Merritt on January 18, 1958 and shared nearly 53 years together. He is preceded in death by his parents Murray and Edna Holcomb, his brother William Holcomb MD, his sister Elaine Carter and a grandchild David Allen. He is survived by his wife Betty and their six children: Tom Merritt, Susan Allen, Edward Holcomb, Robert Holcomb, John Holcomb and Laura Keck. He is also survived by son-in laws Rex Allen and Scott Keck; daughter-in law Deb Merritt; one sister, Laura Grace McNatt; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm in Buffalo, Oklahoma at the United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 18, 2010, with Pastor Randy Foote of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery N. E. of Buffalo, ok. with the Myatt Funeral Home of Buffalo, ok in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (“OMRF”) in Oklahoma City.
