Mickey Louise Armstrong Obituary

Woodward, Oklahoma - Mickey Armstrong, 80 year old Woodward resident, passed away April 19, 2025 in Shattuck. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating. Private family burial will take place.

Mickey Louise DeVilbiss was born May 28, 1944 in Alva, Oklahoma to Alice Loretta (Shelite) and Claude "Dee" DeVilbiss. Mickey attended Woodward schools and graduated from Woodward High School, where she was very active as a cheerleader, the pep club, secretary and treasurer of the Trade and Industrial Club, Senior Class Treasurer, and Senior Class Queen. While in high school, she also attended Beauty School in Enid the summer of her junior year and she lived at the YMCA until she finished. She was the first female to take Drafting classes at Woodward Public Schools. Mickey was the Woodward delegate to the annual Girls State at Chickasha, Oklahoma.

She was united in marriage to Larry Gene Armstrong on August 13, 1963. They made their first home in Weatherford until Larry finished college. Mickey worked as a Cosmetologist during this time. They later moved back to Woodward. This union was blessed with two children, Rodney Wade in 1966 and Tiffany Raye in 1969. They moved to Dodge City for Larry's job but moved back to Woodward in 1979. Mickey was very active in helping at the schools and loved doing anything with art painting and doing ceramics.

In 1979, Larry and Mickey embarked on an adventure and built Parkview Furniture Gallery. Mickey flourished as a Interior Home and Floral Designer. She was well known and respected throughout the state of Oklahoma. Parkview was the love of her life and many of her customers became life long friends. Even after retiring from Parkview, Mickey continued as a Freelance Designer until health issues forced her to stop.

Mickey was a member of the United Methodist Church and was involved in all their special events. She loved her church family and enjoyed keeping the church looking beautiful at Christmas. Health issues caused Mickey to enter into a long term care facility in 2016 where she remained until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alice and Claude DeVilbiss, her husband Larry Armstrong, daughter-in-law, Traci Armstrong, in-laws, Russell and Grace Armstrong.

She leaves to mourn her passing, one daughter, Tiffany Traugott and husband Larry; one son Rodney Armstrong; grandson, Cole Traugott and wife Skyler; granddaughter, Grace Traugott and Shonnery Huckins; great-grandchildren: Kaydren Traugott, Kenzlee Traugott, Jasper Huckins; one sister, Francine Reid and husband David and their family, Michelle and Lyle Johnson, Kennedy Johnson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Briggs and husband Eddie and their family, Reata Merkley and husband Bob and their family; other relatives and many friends.
