Michael Shawn Denney
Shawn Denney, 44 year old Woodward resident died Thursday, July 11, 2019 in Woodward. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2019 in the Woodward Arts Theater with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Michael "Shawn" Denney was born on August 25, 1974 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Mike and Debi (Mason) Denney. He was reared in the Woodward and Sharon area. He attended school at Sharon Mutual Elementary and Woodward High School where he graduated from. Shawn attended college before going to work for Employ Bridge in Dallas, Texas for 20 years. He then moved back to Woodward and began working for the Woodward News.

Shawn was united in marriage to Billy John Johnson on December 18, 2016 in Woodward, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Woodward.

Shawn had a love for music. Some of his hobbies included playing the piano, singing and acting, caring for animals, and spending time with his family. He loved getting together with family and singing karaoke, and joy riding in the car. He especially enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews.

Shawn was an active member in the children's youth and Heart Song at the First Baptist Church in Woodward. He was a member of the Oklahoma Kids and toured Guadalajara, Mexico while performing Will and The Wind with the group. While still in high school Shawn was asked to sing with the Don Reed Productions on stage at the Grand Ole Opry Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. He was also included in the Johnny High Review in Arlington, Texas and the Oklahoma Opry in Oklahoma City. Shawn was chosen to play Curly in the production of "Oklahoma" under the direction of Les Castor and was also a member of the Select choir while attending Woodward High School "Go Boomers!" More recently he could be seen at the Woodward Arts Theatre in the production of "The Music Man") he portrayed "Olin Britt" a member of the school board and barber shop quartet. Last year he could be seen in the production of "Beauty and the Beast" where he was "Crazy Old Maurice".

Shawn is survived by his husband, Billy Johnson Denney of the home; parents, Mike and Debi Denney of Woodward; brothers, Ky Denney and wife Trish, Josh Denney and wife Angela; sister, Amy Denney-Pittman and husband Brad; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. One extra special friend who had been with Shawn throughout all his life was Brandon Leonard.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Irvin and Pat Denney; Gene Mason, Cleona Arnold, aunt, Cindy Denney; and his great-grandparents.
