Jason Thomas Razien Obituary

Oklahoma City, Ok - Jason Thomas Razien

1975-2024

The optimistic, brave, frequently brilliant and always intense life of Jason Thomas Razien came to an untimely end in a swimming accident in Oklahoma City on Saturday, June 8, 2024. During his 48-plus years, Jason achieved much and eagerly anticipated more.

Born in Woodward, Oklahoma, on Aug. 14, 1975, Jason embraced music during his junior high and high school years and played trumpet in Woodward's school bands. He led the high school's marching band as drum major when it won the Oklahoma State Championship. While still in High School, Jason studied industrial technology at High Plains Technology Center from 1991-1993, where he aced the classes and took top honors in a national competition with his self-designed electro-mechanical systems.

He went on to study under a music scholarship at Oklahoma State University, where he was principal trumpet player in the university's marching band, jazz band and symphony. It wasn't long before his head was turned by high tech and, as he put it, he was "captured" by the challenges of problem solving and IT.

While still a student - and also president of OSU's Delta Chi fraternity - Jason joined the staff of a technology team designing and installing OSU's first public network LAN system, the largest such network in the state. He went on to create and manage OSU's automated identity provisioning systems. From there, Jason moved to Austin, Texas, and took key positions with a series of leading technology companies: Novell, Oracle, Quest, Dell, STEALTHbits Technologies, Micro Focus/Hewlett Packard.

He developed specializations in cybersecurity, computer forensics and counterterrorism and also earned professional certifications in financial technology, compliance, financial management, risk management and insurance. After 20 years in Texas, Jason returned to Oklahoma and built a global technology consulting practice, Clockworks Technologies. He recently enrolled in a pre-law curriculum at OSU.

Jason never abandoned his love of music. His tastes were varied and deep, and he loved listening, playing and discussing music. He also enjoyed boating, snow skiing, scuba diving and cooking. In Austin, he delighted in hosting frequent gatherings of friends aboard his yacht as it cruised Lake Travis.

He was remarkably and persistently optimistic and willing to work long hours toward a better tomorrow.

He is survived by his mother, Lorie (Lockwood) Patton and her husband JC Patton of Woodward; his father Charles Razien and his wife Ramona of Oklahoma City; sister Denise (Razien) Anderson and her husband Robert of Norman; nieces Ajay and Aly of Norman; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating. Burial followed in Woodward's Elmwood Cemetery.
