James Marvin Hanlon ("Jim") Obituary

Tulsa, Oklahoma - In Loving Memory of James "Jim" Hanlon

November 10, 1933 - July 7, 2025

James Marvin "Jim" Hanlon, 91, longtime resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma died July 7, 2025. Jim was the son of Thomas Patrick Hanlon and Gertrude Meunier Hanlon. He was born on November 10, 1933, on his parents' homestead at the intersection of Fargo Road and Highway 60 in the Harmon neighborhood of Ellis County. Jim was the eighth of nine children born to his parents. It is believed that he was the last surviving member of the second generation of the family of James Michael Hanlon and Nancy McConnaughey Hanlon who homesteaded in the Harmon area in 1900.

Jim graduated from Arnett High School in 1952 and served in the U. S. Army, 1955-1957. Jim was a seismic engineer and traveled extensively on all the continents. He took pride in his work and the friendships he built.

Jim was thoughtful, quietly generous, and had great curiosity as well as a wonderful dry wit. Outside of work, Jim was a man of many interests. He enjoyed gardening, reading, dogs, museums, estate sales, and he relished time with his friends. He was a longtime member of the Holy Family Cathedral Parish in Tulsa.

Jim is survived by his many nieces and nephews. His ashes will be interred in the family plot at the Harmon Cemetery.
