Jim Berry, 69 year old Woodward resident, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 at his home in Woodward. Per Jim's request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
James Dayton Berry, Jr. was born on December 20, 1954 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to James Dayton Sr. and Jackie Sue Urias (Delk) Berry. The family moved many times, spending his childhood in Wichita, Kansas, Elgin, and Buffalo Oklahoma before moving to Woodward. Jim graduated from Buffalo High School in 1973. He worked with his father as a Surveyor, worked for Long Bell and Woodward Construction before retiring from the Woodward Public Schools two years ago.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Binard on October 19, 2007 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and have lived here since that time. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on hot rods, OU Football, cooking for company, and gardening but not weeding. He was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association, the Moose Lodge, where he enjoyed playing pitch, and the Woodward Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Berry of the home; his mother, Jackie Urias (Delk); one daughter, Leslie Tenille (Berry) Wasemiller; two step-sons: Coby Pearce and wife Heather, as well as Jake Pearce; one brother, Russell Berry; two sisters, Cara Berry, Sherri Padgett and husband Paul; grandchildren: Payton A. Wasemiller, Austin T. Wasemiller, Connor Pearce and Weston Pearce; other relatives and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his dad, James D. Berry, Sr., his step-dad, Larry Jacobs, and his good friends, Paul Benton, Gary Walker, Alan Schlarb, Gene Lewis, and Danny Akin.
