Dorothy Esta "D'Esta" Davison was born to Calvin Scott and Laura Estella (Hill) Wyman at the rural family home west of Aline, Oklahoma, on August 13, 1916. She passed away August 24, 2014, in Woodward, Oklahoma, at the age of 98 years and 11 days. D'Esta attended Valley Green country school and Waynoka High School where she graduated with the class of 1933. She attended Northwestern State Teacher's College in Alva graduating in 1937, with a Home Economics major and English minor. Later, she earned the Vocational Home Economics teaching certification at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. She taught Home Ec and English at Fort Supply and Dacoma, Oklahoma and at Higgins, Texas. On August 31, 1941, D'Esta married Francis Davison. She became a fulltime homemaker and ranch partner on the Davison and Sons ranch southeast of Arnett, Oklahoma, where they reared their three children, Cecil, Sherry and Nancy. D'Esta was a longtime supporter of the 4-H program. As a teenager she participated in the Woods County 4-H Club, winning a trip to the National 4-H Congress in Chicago, IL, and later a trip to Washington DC. As an adult, she served in the Ellis County offices of the Home Demonstration Club and as Northwest District President of the Extension Homemakers. She also served on the Ioland Precinct Election Board and as secretary for the Ioland School Board. The Davison family were active members of both the Oklahoma and the local Northwest Oklahoma Cattlemen and CattleWomen organizations. She conceived and started the 4-H project, "Beef-Selecting, Preparing and Serving", sponsored by OCW in 1963, and the same project award for the NW Oklahoma CattleWomen. One of D'Esta's lifelong hobbies was oil painting. She studied art at college along with classmate Dord Fitz and later was a student of Fitz at the Beum Schoolhouse west of Arnett. She and Francis enjoyed several trips abroad and in the United States with Dord Fitz' art groups. D'Esta was baptized as a teenager, attending Wisby Free Methodist Church and Waynoka Methodist Church. After her marriage, she became a member of the Arnett Christian Church, helping with church social activities and serving as Sunday School teacher for many years. D'Esta was preceded in death by her husband Francis, parents Calvin and Laura Wyman, and a baby brother Estal Kirby Wyman. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children, Cecil Davison and wife Nancy Lee of Washington DC, Sherry Nichols and husband Charles of Arnett, OK, and Nancy Davison of Amarillo, TX; four granddaughters Karen Emily Scholfield of Marathon, WI, Jennifer Nichols Shaw and husband Brent of Edmond, OK, Ruth Ann Nichols Givens and husband Weston of Arnett, OK, and Felicity Swann of Amarillo, TX; seven great-grandchildren Will, Laura and Lena Givens, and Brendan, Collin, Alayna and Savannah Shaw; and a wealth of other family, friends and neighbors. Celebration of Life services were held August 31, 2014, 2:00 pm, at the Arnett First Christian Church with Pastor Jacob Russell officiating. Arrangements made by Shaw Funeral Home.
