Doris Josephine Dennett was born on February 19, 1939 in Woodward to C.W. (Bus) and Mildred Dennett. She attended Woodward Schools until graduation in May 1957. After high school graduation Doris moved to Oklahoma City to attend Central State Beauty College where she earned her Registered Cosmetologist license from the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology in January 1959. After returning to Woodward, Doris married Wiley Earl Hauth on January 18, 1959. Doris worked for other beauty shop owners until she opened her own business named Doris' Beauty Shop in her home just outside of Woodward. Doris loved cutting and styling hair and grew very close to many of her clients over the years. She would even go to the funeral home and style their hair prior to burial for many of her long time clients when they passed away. She worked as a beautician from the time she earned her license in January of 1959 until around 2022 when her daughter Tami made her retire due to health reasons post back surgery.

In addition to owning her own beauty shop, Doris assisted Earl in many business activities. She helped with the Hauth Processing Plant in which they butchered and processed meat for several years. Doris also helped feed and care for the horses through the years from ranch horses to race horses to barrel and rope horses. She loved to ride herself and would run barrels and poles at horse shows, play days, and events of several organizations. For many years when the girls were young Doris could be found at the weekly Woodward Roundup Club events either in the oYice, announcer stand, concession stand or arena either participating or assisting in all areas from secretary to concession stand worker to clean up crew or whatever was needed in order for the events to happen. After the girls were older, Doris would assist with team ropings and barrel races that were held at their own arena in Woodward. For several years her and Earl would participate in a senior rodeo organization in which she was able to run barrels and serve as a runner for a man roper in the ribbon roping events. As a competitor that was a favorite event for her also.

Doris was a member of the Crown Heights Baptist Church where she attended regularly until her health made it challenging. She didn't like to be the center of attention; however, she could usually be found helping in the kitchen with church and funeral events. Many close lifelong friends were made through her church membership. She was very dedicated to the act of giving part of her income each week to the Lord and demonstrated that by

consistent tithing regardless if she had a "good week" or a "bad week" of self employment income; the Lord got his share every week.

Doris displayed a life of serving others and the best example was when she accepted responsibility for her brother, Gary, when her parents passed. Although Gary didn't live in the home with Doris and family, he rarely missed a holiday in the home and she saw him at least once a week. She made several trips to Protection, KS and Mooreland, OK later in his life when Gary lived in nursing home facilities. With the help of Larry Guthrie, Gary was assisted in the home as long as possible for holidays and family events. Doris was adamant about showing appreciation and honoring family members that had passed even though it many times required Larry's help in driving her and getting the flowers in the graves each Memorial Day. Even last year at 86 years old she had Tami take her to several of the cemeteries to "put out flowers".

Doris supported her daughters, Cindi and Tami, and her granddaughter, Shawna, in all their activities. It would probably be impossible to count how many clothing items she sewed through the years for western and other activities for the girls. There are still many "patterns" in a closet drawer which displays the examples of types of clothes she sewed for them. She wasn't afraid to dye a boot a diYerent color if it needed to match a queen outfit for Cindi or add some dye to a mane or tail if it improved the appearance of the horse for the competition! In addition to horse events, Doris drove many miles to attend track meets for Cindi and Tami and academic bowls for Shawna. She loved supporting and cheering for her family.

From an early age Doris took Shawna to visit the Woodward Library. All those trips surely contributed to Shawna's love for reading and now her role as head librarian in her dream career. Doris and Earl both loved having Shawna go on trips with them such as to Disney World, Memphis, and the National Finals.

Doris loved the outdoors. She actually enjoyed mowing and keeping her yard in top shape until her health no longer allowed it. Larry can even tell the story of when she got her first gas mower and she ran into the fence and broke all the boards except the top one. She had to wait on Larry to get her unstuck and pulled out. She told Tami several times how much she missed mowing the last few years. She also loved sitting in the kitchen where she could look out the North windows and watch the horses, cattle and humming birds. Larry was very dedicated to the maintenance of the yard work when Doris could no longer do it and he regularly assisted her while she still could. For many years Doris wanted a fish pond. With Earl and Larry's help and Larry's continued maintenance, there is still a fish pond by her house.

Doris also loved baking sweets such as Blarney Stones every St Patrick's Day (a tradition Shawna now carries on), delicious chocolate sheet cakes, cranberry bread and various pies as well as homemade cinnamon and cherry rolls. She made an amazing peach cobbler. It was hard to beat her in line at the Woodward Sale Barn on early mornings in the Fall when she was determined to get boxes of Cunningham Colorado peaches for herself, family and friends. She especially loved cooking for her family for her favorite holiday which was Thanksgiving.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, as well as her parents, C.W. (Bus) and Mildred Dennett and brothers Dale and Gary Dennett.

Doris is survived by daughter Cindi and husband Wayne Morris of Guthrie, OK, granddaughter Shawna and husband Drew Deeds and son Olin Wiley Deeds of Yukon, OK, daughter Tami and husband Shannon Frascht of Alva, OK and the special friend who her and Earl loved like a son, Larry Guthrie of Woodward. Larry is the person who stayed by Doris and Earl's sides caring for them almost daily through the years and keeping them in their home as long as possible. She is also survived by her dogs Kodee and Scout.

A special thanks to Megan Meyer, Larry's niece and Chris Navratil, Doris' neighbor for all the help the last few months and years.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Friends of the Mabel C. Fry Public Library which is a 501(c3) eligible organization. Checks may be mailed to 1200 Lakeshore Dr., Yukon, OK 73099. Doris was extremely proud of Shawna for pursuing her dream job of being Head Librarian.
