Woodward, OK - Doretta Morgan, 86 year old Woodward resident passed away, Saturday, August 31, 2024 in Vici. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Doretta Mae Whitsitt was born January 30, 1938 in Mutual, OK, to John Bassett and Effie Doris Whitsitt. She graduated from Mutual High School in 1954 as salutatorian of her class. Doretta married Leo Morgan October 25, 1958, and on September 5, 1959 they had their first daughter, Terri. Then on May 28, 1961, they had their second daughter, Twila. The Morgans made their home in Mutual until January 2018, when they moved to Woodward. In October of 2023, she moved to the Vici Nursing Home where she received great care and love.

Doretta and her family were all members of the First Christian Church of Mutual. Other than her responsibilities and activities at the church, Doretta loved watching wildlife and being in the presence of beautiful flowers and gardens. But above all else, Doretta cherished her family, especially watching her granddaughters grow-up and her great grandchildren visiting their great grandmother.

Proceeding her in death was her husband, Leo Morgan, parents John and Effie Whitsitt, her brother Donald Whitsitt, and sister Katie Glennie.

Doretta is survived by her daughter, Terri and her wife Deb Buntzen Amarillo, TX and Twila and her husband Steve Day of Woodward. Her granddaughters, Kerissa Day-Phillips and husband Clint Phillips, and Brenna Neill and her husband Jeryn Neill currently reside in Stillwater, OK. Stephanie Hyde and husband Will are living in St. Louis MO. Her great grandchildren Harper Phillips (14), Asher Phillips (10), Dayton Phillips (7), Ryker Neill (10) live in Stillwater, OK, and Olive Hyde (5) is in St. Louis, MO.

She is also survived by her brother, Lewis Whitsitt and wife Verla of Gage and brother-in-law Lawrence Glennie of Woodward. She leaves behind three women who were like daughters to her, Tawnia Zink of Ellinwood, KS, Violet Smith of Alva, OK, and Janice Hammans of Woodward along with many other family and friends.
