Dallas Lee Bourassa was born on February 27, 1972, at Woodward Memorial Hospital to Dahl and Jobyna Bourassa. He and his twin brother, Derric, arrived two months early, each weighing just 3 pounds. Despite the initial prognosis giving them only 24 hours to live, Dallas and Derric defied all odds.
Dallas grew up on the family farm north of Woodward in Harper County, Oklahoma. He developed a deep love for the outdoors, with a particular fondness for annual rattlesnake hunts with family and friends. Dallas was also an avid deer hunter, known for his patience and skill in the pursuit.
He graduated from Freedom High School in 1990, where he was a talented athlete, participating in football, basketball, baseball, and track.
After high school, Dallas worked for the North America Brine for six years. He then pursued his passion for criminal justice, completing the necessary education and training, including CLEET certification, to work for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
In 2001, Dallas began working at William S. Key Correctional Center in Fort Supply. While there, he became a dedicated member of the CERT team, which he greatly enjoyed. Additionally, he served as a Reserve Deputy for Harper County and as a part of the Sniper team for the Department of Corrections.
In 2010, Dallas found his lifelong partner in Sandra, who shared not only his heart but also his dedication to public service. Sandra was not just his soulmate but also his esteemed colleague. Together, they embarked on a journey of love and companionship, sharing nine memorable years of marriage.
After retiring in 2021, Dallas cherished spending time with his family and friends, as well as his two beloved canine companions, Yodi the coyote, and Piggy. He also enjoyed helping out on the family ranch.
Dallas is survived by his mother, Jobyna Bourassa; his twin brother, Derric; his sister, Vicki Chandler, all of Woodward; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; his father, Dahl Bourassa; and his sister, Sheilla Horton Bourassa.
