Freedom, OK - Funeral Services for Bruce Lee Stansberry will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2025, at Freedom Methodist Church with Reverend Todd Finley officiating. Burial will follow at the Freedom Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Bruce Lee Stansberry was born to John Wesley and Majel Marceille (Lowrey) Stansberry on March 22, 1937, in Oxford, Kansas. He passed away at the family ranch on March 31, 2025, at the age of 88. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1955 and then enlisted in the National Guard where he served for 13 years.
Bruce and Dixie L. McCammon were married August 7, 1960, in Freedom, Oklahoma, and started their life together in Satana, KS. They moved to Freedom in 1967. He was employed for 20 years with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company in Satana, KS and later transferred to Alva, OK. He was an amazing welder and welded everything from oilfield to agriculture from Texas to North Dakota. Bruce and Dixie established Stansberry Welding MFG in 1977 where they employed many young welders.
Bruce was a member of the Freedom Methodist Church and the Hatch-Vincent Post 63 American Legion in Freedom. He loved to build radio-controlled airplanes and created his own RC airport called Hilltop Airfield, elevation 1645 feet above sea level. He and Dixie also enjoyed taking their 1955 Chevy to numerous car shows and visiting with fellow enthusiasts.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nada Jo Stoops and Nedra June Arnett, and his nephew John Wayne Dulaney.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 64 years Dixie of the home; son, Jon Chris Stansberry and Tara Quinton of Red Rock, Oklahoma; daughter, Lori Lynn Stansberry-Louthan of Freedom; grandchildren, Cheyenne Lee Stansberry and Morgan Fitzgerald, Shelby Jo Stansberry and Russell Rice, Cooper Johnson Stansberry, Brianna Leu Carver and husband Jeremy, Sydnee Rae Louthan and Michael McDonald; great-grandchild, Juniper Lynn Marie Carver; sister, Shona Sue Blakeley and husband Kim; and many other family members and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Hatch-Vincent Post 63 American Legion or Freedom Methodist Church.
