Allie Delaine Cortum Obituary

Allie Delaine Cortum passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, in Blanchard, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Cash Hurst and Lulu Mabel (Scott) Hurst. Allie was born October 8, 1940, in Shattuck, Oklahoma.

Allie attended May High School in May, Oklahoma and was competitive in basketball in which she lettered.

Allie met and married Calvin Cortum in Woodward, Oklahoma where they started a young family. The young Cortum family moved from Woodward, Oklahoma which took them to New Jersey and Iowa for brief periods. In the early 1960s, they moved to Oklahoma City where they purchased their first home. Allie participated in all the fashions of the 60's: Go Go boots, big hair, hot pants and drove a lavender Malibu SS66 convertible. In the early 1970s, they purchased their second (and final) home in Newcastle, Oklahoma.

Allie was a master of many talents. Her career was in the food service industry where she advanced to being the manager at a restaurant within Montgomery Wards. In 2000, after her husband passed and in her semi-retirement, she joined her son, Leland Cortum, in Cortum Construction where she assisted with bookkeeping.

Allie had many hobbies and she loved animals of all kinds - and she HAD animals of all kinds - koi, rabbits, cats, dogs, but her largest passion was breeding and raising all types of exotic birds. She was in her element with the birds and was happy to educate anyone who was interested in learning more - especially about her pet macaws.

Allie is survived by her children, Lisa McComb, Leland Cortum and his wife Wendy Cortum; grandchildren: Melissa Smith, Vanessa Unsell and Erica Cortum; and great grandsons: Kylan and Grayson.

Allie was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Cortum; parents, Cash Hurst and Lulu Hurst Crigler; and a sister, Carole Haliburton.

Allie was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be forever remembered. Allie's family is planning a private service at a later date and she will be interred at Blanchard Cemetery next to her husband. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
