Carlinville, Illinois - Alice Vaughn (Shepherd) McGeachy aged 86 passed away August 5, 2025.

Alice was born October 29, 1938, in Oklahoma City Oklahoma to Orville and Wilma (Spencer) Shepherd. When she was a young girl, her parents moved to California. She graduated from San Fernando High School in California. She met her husband Larry through friends, they were married September 30, 1955, they celebrated 69 years together.

Larry and Alice had 6 children that survived them: Larry (Val) McGeachy Jr., Linda (Ed) Leefers, Steve (Geri) McGeachy, Ken (Robbie) McGeachy, Debbie (Tom) Brinkley and Marianne (Bruce) Dittmer.

Alice was a homemaker and stayed busy raising their 6 kids. She was a Cub Scout Den leader, a great pie baker, loved bingo, Hallmark movies and was known in the neighborhood in California for her popcorn balls that were handed out at Halloween for many years. While living in Oklahoma she was actively involved in the Moose Lodge in Woodward,

After Larry retired, they moved to Buffalo Oklahoma to be closer to her family. They then moved to Gore Oklahoma where they enjoyed working at the Marval Resort. They finally settled in Carlinville, Illinois, living next door to their daughter Linda.

Alice is survived by 6 kids and their spouses: 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; her sisters Donna Dreyer and Sherri (Ken) Thompson, sister-in-law Karen Shepherd and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, brother David Shepherd and sister Sandie Bergeron.

A memorial service for both Larry and Alice are planned for May 2,2026 at Ascent Church in Fargo at 11:00am with burial following at DeBolt Cemetery in Arnett Oklahoma.
