Alberta Orva Stout
Alberta Orva, daughter of Orva (Loomis) and Albert Kornele was born July 16, 1926 on a farm north of Woodward. She passed away on December 2, 2019 at her home surrounded by her children. Alberta lived to be 93 years, 4 month, and 16 days. Alberta attended Pleasant Valley School at age 5 and graduated from Woodward High School in 1942 at age 16.

Alberta married Calvin L. Marston on November 25, 1943 in Harper County. To their union seven children were born. On December 30, 1963 she married Will Saylor Smith (Bill) in Buffalo, Oklahoma and they had one son. Bill Smith passed away on April 2, 1972. Alberta later married Tom Stout.

Alberta was best known for her cooking and worked several years as a baker for Woodward Public Schools. She cooked for church camps in the surrounding area for over 20 years and her children gathered at her table on a regular basis to enjoy her meals. She was a hard worker and began waitressing at age 15 working in her parents restaurant in the sale barn, the Pollyanna Café, JB's Steakhouse, and the Oasis. She worked 7 ½ years for Mellers Photo Shop and 14 years as a receptionist for the Family Counseling Center, retiring at age 84.

Alberta joined the Nazarene Church at age 11 and was a faithful member until failing health prohibited her attendance. She enjoyed home visitation by church members, and was a prayer warrior.

She enjoyed years of oil painting classes with her mother, embroidery work, and helping others. Her best days were spent feeling needed by her family and friends. Alberta was deeply afraid of storms after surviving the Woodward tornado in 1947 and helped raise her young brother-in-law, Donnie Marston after the death of her mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Her children spent many nights in the storm cellar while growing up.

Alberta the oldest of her siblings, is preceded in death by her mother and step father, Orva and Lewis Loomis; her father and step mother, Albert and Doris Kornele; her sister, Verta Lee Kitzman; brothers, Leroy, Arnold, Richard, and Dewayne Kornele; step sister, Bessie Mustard; step brother, Rodney Mustard; and great grandson, Matthew George Scott III.

She is survived by her daughters, Rita Airington and husband Bobby, Audry Stewart and husband Gale, Kandy Fifield and husband Graden, all of Woodward, Donna Mains and husband Ed, Sondra Oliver of Crescent, and a foster daughter Ona Hall of Shawnee; her sons: C.L. Martson and wife Nora of Alamo, Texas; J.R. Martson and Willie Smith of Woodward; her brother and sister in law, Wayne and Wanda Kornele of Fort Supply; step sister, Frances Doak and husband Ed of Alva; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Her legacy includes raising a close knit family of nine hard working successful children whom all helped her in her journey to eternal life. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Tom, at Elmwood Cemetery. Funeral services are being held at the Woodward Church of the Nazarene on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank Carter Home Health, Faith Hospice, Dr. Kirkendall, and all her care givers for their quality day to day care.
