Verdea Cook, 81 year old Bartlesville resident and former Woodward resident, died Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Elmwood Cemetery with Reverend Ted Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Verdea Frances (Fothergill) Cook was born on January 26, 1936 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Charles Clyde and Vivian Beatrice (Carter) Fothergill. She worked in many stores and manufacturing companies. Verdea was united in marriage to Robert Cook on July 10, 1958. To this union were born two children, Dreama JoAnn in 1961 and William Charles in 1966.
She was an expert on investing.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Cook; one son William Cook; one sister Virginia Clark; four brothers: Virgil Fothergill of Lake Texhoma, Velden Fothergill and wife Fran of Lake Texhoma, Vernon Fothergill and wife Juanita of Shamrock, Texas, James Fothergill and wife Ila of Woodward; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter Dreama JoAnn on May 21, 2001.
Memorials may be made to the Ocheleata Fire Department with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
