Stephen "Steve"'s Story

Stephen Steve Lyle Sutton died unexpectedly on September 18, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 64.

Steve Sutton was born on May 9, 1953 in Beaver, Oklahoma to Georgia Rose (Trumbull) and Carl Audry Sutton. He spent his childhood in Forgan, OK. He graduated from Forgan High School in 1971 and later from Northwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in law enforcement. Steve was proud of his military service in the Navy where he served on the USS Enterprise during the Viet Nam war. He worked in the Sheriffs department in Woodward, Oklahoma & the Colby Kansas Police Department where he received the Kansas Gold Valor award. Steve married Karen Kay Landers April 4, 2004 after already having spent 17 years together as a couple. After moving to Las Vegas, NV in 1997, Steve worked as a security guard for the casinos.

Steve was an accomplished bowler and enjoyed bowling with his friends on various leagues throughout his life. Steve had a great sense of humor, a ready smile, and an excellent memory. He always kept abreast of current news, often sharing his knowledge with others. Steve could often be heard cheering on his favorite teams, rooting loudest for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Steve is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Carey Hill of Peachtree City, GA and Clinton Hill & wife Brandi, of Canyon Lake, TX; Grandchildren, Treyston Hill, Isaiah Aquilar, Madilyn Brown, Amelia Carney, Feona Carney, and Waylen Carney: Siblings James Sutton & wife Judy Lee of Silverdale, WA; Judy (Sutton) Taylor and husband Rod of Colby, KS; Bill Sutton and wife, Gayla of Topeka, KS; Bobby Sutton of Milk River, Alberta Canada. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ray Sutton.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am on October 14, 2017 at Forgan, Oklahoma, with a reception to follow at the Golden Ages Community Center. Steves cousin, Rev. Bill Nichols will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Steve's life.
