Sarah Merriman, 28 year old Woodward resident, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Alliance Health of Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with James Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Sarah June (Hill) Merriman was born on September 23, 1987 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Larry Kurt and Patricia Ann (Parker) Hill. Sarah grew up in Crowder, Oklahoma before her family moved to Woodward when she was eight years of age. Sarah attended Woodward schools and graduated from Woodward High School in 2006. She received her degree in Social Work from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 2012.
She was united in marriage to Jonathan Merriman on July 17, 2006 in Crowder, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Weatherford and later moved to Woodward. Sarah worked for Western Plains Youth and Family Services as a child care provider and also for the CIC. She also worked for Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
She was a member of the Woodward Church of Christ. She enjoyed arts and crafts, being a foster parent, traveling and taking the kids on adventures. She was a member of the Girl Scouts and was involved in the Woodward Relay for Life. Sarah loved being with her husband and children, and her passion was being an advocate for children.
She is survived by her husband Jonathan Merriman of the home; one daughter, Madalynn Rose Merriman; one son, Jonas Asher Merriman; her parents, Larry and Patricia Hill of Woodward; brothers, Brian Green, Michael and Jaime Hill of Mooreland; one sister, Nancy Green of Lawton; her in-laws, Robert Merriman Sr. of Joplin, Missouri and Melissa Patton; Janice Merriman of Sherwood, Arkansas and Perry Norwood; brothers-in-law, Robert Merriman Jr. and wife Alisha and their children, Hailey and Vanessa; and Mark Merriman; grandparents, Irene Parker, Kaye Hill, Barbara Bird, Frank White; special friends, Renee Work, Glori Thompson, and Jennifer Tunks; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her precious son, Mason Timothy Merriman and her grandparents, Cleo Parker and Charles Hill.
