Robert E. Lee Morris, 90 year old Woodward resident, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016. Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.
Robert E. Lee Morris was born March 21, 1926 to Roy A. and Alice Lillie (Hayward) Morris in Carlton, Oklahoma. He grew up in Laverne and attended Rosston schools. He was married to Lorene Pemberton on July 20, 1950 in Woodward and lived in Laverne, later moving to Follett, Texas and eventually to Woodward. Robert worked at Milligans Bakery in Laverne, Famers Co-operative in Follett, Koch Oil, Oliver Hixon Electric and John Bruce Electric, all in Woodward.
He served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he enlisted and served in the US Army from 1946 to 1949. He honorably served his country during the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 1335.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, mountain jeeping, country music and VFW dances. Spending time with his family is what he enjoyed most.
Robert is survived by his wife Lorene of the home; son Michael L. Morris and wife Stella; a brother, Buddy Morris; a sister Wanda Pearl Davis; 11 grandchildren, Michelle, Tony, Jennifer, Jacquelyn, Michael, Cody, Robin, Raymond, Lewis, Joey, Sophie; 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Robert W. "Bobby" Morris; three sisters, Lela DeSpain, Martha Dunsworth and Della Ishmael; four brothers, Donald, Duward, Ray, and Wesley Morris.
