Pierre L. "Pete"'s Story
Pierre L. "Pete" Wood of Oklahoma City, OK went home to our Lord on the morning of May 25, 2017 at the age of 88. He was the son of Walter Wood and Nellie Alberta (Pieratt). Pete attended primary school in his hometown of Gate, OK during the Dust Bowl and completed his early education in Oklahoma City, OK, graduating from Northeast High School in 1947. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1952 attaining the rank of SGT 1st Class during the Korean War. Upon his Honorable Discharge, Pete went on to complete his education at OSU, majoring in Chemistry. He utilized his degree with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation as a Forensic Chemist from 1954 until 1959. Pete then went to work for Western Electric as a Fabrication Engineer, retiring after 30 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being with family and friends. From 1952 until her death in August 2012, Pete loved spending his days with his life partner, Ida Bess Fyffe. Pete is also preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Howard E. Smith. He will be dearly missed by all of the lives he touched with his gentle spirit and life stories. Viewing will be held 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Thursday, June 1 at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, Yukon, OK.
