Patricia Loy (Bishop) Miller, 80, of Arnett went to be with her Lord Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Visitation and book signing will take place at Shaw Funeral Home of Arnett on Friday from 9am-5pm and Saturday from 9am-10am. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24th at DeBolt Cemetary with Rev. Rusty Husted officiating. Patricia's family have entrusted her care and services to Bart Watkins and the staff of Shaw Funeral Home. Patricia (Pat) was born on January 17, 1935 in Shattuck, OK to Wesley Willard and Esther Marie (Addington) Bishop of Arnett, OK. Pat and her parents moved to Oklahoma City where Wesley served 2 years in the Army and worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 3 years. She started school in Oklahoma City. The family then moved back to Arnett where Pat was baptized at an early age at the Arnett United Methodist Church. Some of her early loves were her horse, dog, and cat and she carried that love for animals all through life. She graduated in 1953 from Arnett and immediately married a local sailor man, Ronald Miller, on August 20, 1953. They then left Arnett for New London, Connecticut where Ronald was attending submarine training in the U.S. Navy. From there, they moved to Norfolk, Virginia for 6 months then back to New London, Connecticut where her first son, Russell, was born in Groton, Connecticut on December 13, 1954. Then the family moved to Kittery, Maine for a short time before returning to New London, Connecticut. Completing her military wife time in December 1956, they then moved to Borger, Texas where her husband worked for Phillips 66 Refinary. Her second son, Ronald (Ronnie), was born in Borger, Texas on August 28, 1957. On April 1, 1960 the family made their last move back to Arnett, Oklahoma when they bought interest in Vincent Chevrolet. Pat was a part time bookkeeper for Vincent - Miller Chevrolet for the next 22 years. She loved kids and showed it by leading lots of cub scouts in their early learning. She continued her love for animals by taming and feeding wild squirrels in the back yard. She was a very special lady always putting others first and willing to help wherever she was needed. Pat was preceded in death by her son Ronald Dale Miller and parents Wesley and Esther Bishop. Survivors are her husband Ronald of the home, son Russell and wife Linda of Arnett, grandsons Bryan of Arnett and Kristopher of Woodward, Oklahoma, granddaughter Chanda Jones and Husband Nick of Mustang, Oklahoma, great-grandaughers Taylor and Bailee of Mustang, Oklahoma, great- grandsons Connor of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Hunter of Mooreland, Oklahoma, step-grandson Justin Schlepp and wife Kayla of Manhattan, Kansas, and step-grandaughter Jennie Elmore and husband Jason of Waukomis, Oklahoma, other family and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the National Federation for the Blind (200 East Wells St. Baltimore, MD 21230) or the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org
