Ola's Story

Ola Lee (Robison) McCord Blackmon, 97 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday, June 30, 2016 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the First Assembly of God Church with the Reverend Gary Gonsolus officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Ola Lee Robison was born on November 20, 1918 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Grover Thomas and Nancy Emaline (DeShields) Robison. The family moved to the Sharon area when she was 12 years of age. She attended Sharon schools until her graduation. Ola moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 20. During the war she worked for Douglas Aircraft and Inglewood Aircraft. Ola was united in marriage to James Ross McCord on November 1, 1946 in Inglewood, California. They resided in California until 1963 when they moved to Sharon, Oklahoma. Ola worked at the Woodward Hospital as a Nurse from 1963 until her retirement in 1981. Ross preceded her in death on August 30, 1986.

She was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church. She loved spending time with her family.

She was united in marriage to Jason Ellis Blackmon on April 27, 1991 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and enjoyed going to church and being with family and friends. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2002.

Ola is survived by three sons, Paul McCord and wife Janice of Woodward, Larry McCord and wife Glenda of Searcy, Arkansas, Mark McCord and wife Debbie of Nairobi, Kenya; daughter, Sharon Newton and husband Rick of Woodward; two step-daughters, Kathy Johnson of Mustang, Patricia Jeffcoat of Moore; seven grandchildren, Darron McCord and wife Adonna, Tracy Wilson and husband Jimmy, Meredith McCord and wife Terre, Landon McCord, Brian Newton, Jennifer Newton-Madara and husband Reynold, Daniel McCord and wife Robin; nine great-grandchildren, Wade Wilson and wife Taylor, Weston Wilson, Natalie Jennings, Paul Thomas McCord, Dazylin McCord, Brooke Foster and husband Vic, Ashley McCord, Marcos Madara, Royce Madara; one great-great-grandchild Kasen Wilson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, six brothers, one sister, her son, James Arthur McCord, and two step-daughters.
