Nancy M. Seher, 78 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in the Alliance Health of Woodward Hospital. Visitation will be from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Billings Funeral Home. The family will have a receiving of friends from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. on Monday as well. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Arapahoe Cemetery.
Nancy Marie (Disharoon) Seher was born on March 25, 1938 in Clinton, Oklahoma to John Edward and Helen Marie (Wild) Disharoon. She grew up in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1956. Nancy received her Bachelor of Arts from St. Edward's University later on. She was united in marriage to Alvin Seher on April 6, 1958 in Clinton, Oklahoma. They made their home in Clinton, Lubbock, Texas, Andrews, Texas, and Austin, Texas. Nancy worked for the City of Austin making many of the signs throughout the city. In her later years, she moved to Woodward and began a new adventure. She went to work for the Woodward News where she was a Reporter and Photographer. Later she became an Archivist with the Plains Indians and Pioneer Museum and worked there until her retirement.
Nancy was a dedicated wife and mother who was a stay at home mom in the early years of her children. She loved being with her family and friends and enjoyed painting, photography, art, and reading. Nancy participated in many art competitions in which she won awards and ribbons for her artwork. She considered it an honor to display her artwork in exhibits.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Seher of North Richland Hills, Texas; her daughter, Marla Eichholtz of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Steve Seher and wife Jamie, Claire Walker; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Walker and Mason Seher; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin "Sonny" Seher, and her parents, John and Helen Disharoon.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the caring and helpful nurses and staff at Grace Living Center, the kind and helpful nurses, doctors and staff at Alliance Health of Woodward. The outpouring of love and kindness from the wonderful people of the Woodward community and the love and care of family and friends.
