Maureen Kitchens, 91 year old resident of Woodward, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at her home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Shannon Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Alice Maureen Kitchens was born October 22, 1924 in Woodward; she was the daughter of Hubert and Iva (Merrill) McCormick. She grew up on a farm southeast of Woodward, attended Woodward schools, graduating from Woodward High School. On December 14, 1946, Maureen was married to Leonard Kitchens in Woodward. Their first home was in Woodward. Leonard worked for a Seismographic crew and he and Maureen lived in Montana, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, El Reno, Elk City before returning to Woodward in 1961
Maureen worked for Campbell Grain, County Assessors office Annis and Moore Law Firm, and the Department of Health.
Maureen was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Her most enjoyment in life came with being with her family and she enjoyed Colorado trips, documenting life in photos, her cats, jigsaw puzzles and music, especially piano and her home.
Maureen is survived by one son Mike Kitchens and wife Peggy of Woodward; one daughter, Jane Kitchens of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, David Kitchens of Morrison, Illinois and Phillip Kitchens of Oklahoma City; niece and nephew, Mary Sue Smith and husband Ed of Camargo; Beth McCormick and Jim McCormick both of Woodward; cousin, Don Merrill of Tulsa; one great grandchild, Cambree Lynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Iva McCormick; husband Leonard; infant sister, Dorothy; brother Lewis McCormick; brother and sister-in-law Hal and Bernice McCormick.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Faith Hospice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
