Louis's Story

Louis Russell Enlow died on April 29th, 2017, at Providence Marionwood in Issaquah, Wash.
He was born on September 26, 1925 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Russell C. Enlow and Cecelia E. (Bouquot) Enlow, and he was raised in and around Woodward, Oklahoma. He trained as a US Navy pilot between 1943 and 1945, then went on to earn a degree from Oklahoma State University with majors in geology and economics. He married Mary Lou Williams (also raised in Woodward) in 1951and they farmed in the Columbia Basin north of Pasco, Washington, for three decades, before retiring near Port Townsend, Washington. He joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity in college, co-founded the White Bluffs Water Association, served on the boards of the Mid-Columbia Regional Library and Pasco Schools, and belonged to the Port Townsend Yacht Club. He loved hiking in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, traveling around the world, flying light aircraft over Eastern Washington, sailing the waters of Puget Sound and coastal British Columbia, and listening to opera and audio non-fiction. His family members and fellow travelers were at the center of his life. He is survived by his wife of 67 years (artist Mary Lou Enlow), by daughters Clair Enlow and Amelia Enlow Silvestre, by grandsons Zachary Silvestre, William Comstock, August Comstock, and Luke Silvestre; and also by Klebert Silvestre, Donald Comstock and Duane Kelly. Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery, Chimacum, WA, and a private memorial will be held at the Kala Point Clubhouse on June 3, 2017.
