LeaAnn's Story

LeaAnn Venosdel, 60 year old Woodward resident passed away at her home on Monday, May 2, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, May 6, 2016 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clark Struebing officiating. Interment will follow in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery.

LeaAnn (Chelf) Venosdel was born on November 26, 1955 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Paul Eugene and Leatrice Joy (Haltom) Chelf. As a girl her family traveled and lived all over the United States, finally settling in Alva her freshman year of high school. She met her high school sweetheart, Michael Lee Venosdel in Alva. LeaAnn graduated from Alva High School in 1974. LeaAnn and Mike were married February 9, 1974 in Amarillo, Texas. They were life long partners for the last 42 years. To this union two beautiful daughters were born, Cassie Ann and Chenel Maurice. LeaAnn and Mike moved from Alva to Woodward in 1982 and have remained here since then.

LeaAnn was a woman of many jobs, wife, mother, nana, and custom harvester. She also worked at Wal-Mart, Tregos, the sale barn, helping out at the Moose Lodge, and just recently began farming with her husband.

She was proud of her grandchildren Matthew Michael and Malea Marie. She once said "She wished she could've skipped having kids and went straight to having grandkids because they were so much fun".

LeaAnn enjoyed bowling, fishing, softball, darts, golfing, and coaching both daughters T-ball teams. She also liked to pull the one armed bandit every chance she got.

LeaAnn is survived by her husband Michael Lee Venosdel of the home; two daughters, Cassie Ann Venosdel; and Chenel Maurice Venosdel both of Woodward; two grandchildren, Matthew Michael Venosdel and Malea Marie Venosdel; one brother, Estel Chelf and wife Suzanne of Liberal, Kansas; a special cousin, Lajeanna Williams of Waynoka, Oklahoma, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law, grandparents, several aunts and uncles.
