Jonnie Miller, 68 year old Gage resident, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 surrounded by her family at the St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Jonnie Joan (O'Hern) Miller was born December 6, 1947 in Shattuck, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of Vincent Alpha and Thelma Pauline (Hiner) O'Hern. Jonnie grew up on the family farm outside of Catesby before the family moved to New Mexico and Colorado. The family moved south of May and Jonnie spent the remainder of her childhood there. She attended Laverne schools and graduated from Laverne High School in 1966. She later attended and graduated from Nursing School.
She was united in marriage to Jay Orville Miller on September 29, 1970 In Woodward, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two children, Carrie and Vince. The family lived in Bowie and Faiorfield, Texas, before returning to Laverne in 1985. Jonnie left the nursing field to raise her family. She owned the flower shop in Laverne and worked for Wal-Mart from 1999 until 2001. Jonnie was currently working for United in the produce section and she loved visiting with her co-workers and people that came in to United. She will be greatly missed by everybody at United.
Jonnie had a green thumb and she was an avid reader!!! She was completely devoted to her children and grandchildren. Her family was everything, including the family she adopted with love. She always loved making people laugh and she was a gifted listener.
She is survived by daughter, Carrie Shafer of Woodward; son, Vincent Miller and wife Kelcie of Laverne four grandchildren Caroline Taylor and husband Zach, Cammy Quinby, Calli Shafer, Colton Miller; one great-grandchild Jaycee Ray Taylor who Jonnie was able to meet and hold at the hospital; numerous cousins, other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Carole Khalil, her former husband Jay Miller and her beloved great-grandson Landon Taylor.
