Jimmy's Story

Neal Patton, 78 year old Woodward resident died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the Harper County Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 29, 2017 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ed Dowty officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Jimmy Neal Patton was born on June 8, 1939 on the family farm near Leedey, Oklahoma the son of Lee Otis and Elsie Alice (Horrell) Patton. Neal attended school in Leedey, where he excelled at baseball. Neal was united in marriage to Sharon Bullard in 1961, they made their home on a farm near Fargo. To this union two children were born Jimmy and Kimberly. Neal was drafted into the United States Army that same year. He served his country and was Honorably Discharged in 1963. He was especially proud of his expert marksmanship medal. After returning home Neal worked at various jobs, ending up at the Fargo Farmers Coop. In 1980 Neal was united in marriage to Doris Louis Cole, they made their home near Fargo. Neal embraced the addition of his new extended family with open arms. The couple operated a restaurant in Fargo for the next 22 years. Neal also worked in the oilfield, and later in life he did maintenance for several Woodward area hotels. Neal retired in 2004 when he and Doris moved to Woodward.

Neal and Doris enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Neal was a simple man that enjoyed the simple things in life.

As his health deteriorated, Neal spent his time watching old westerns and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Neal is survived by one son, Jimmy F. Patton and wife Ginger; step-children, Don Noreuil and wife Teresa; Ron Noreuil and wife Arelene; Ricky Noreuil and wife Barbara; Vickie Hurst and husband Robert; Betty Hurst and husband Rick; brother, Don Patton; brother-in-law, Gene Cole and wife Faye; sister-in-law, Betty Parker and husband Jim; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special cousin, Gladys Keepers; special friends, Tom and Gloria Pack; Ronnie Frame; Jimmy Dale Parker; and many other family and friends, too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Elsie Patton; wife, Doris; daughter, Kimberly Brewer; sister, Della; brother, Darrell.
