Jim's Story

Jim Kahoe, 77 year old longtime Mooreland resident, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in the Woodward Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Mooreland. Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Jimmie Mac “Jim” Kahoe was born on September 25, 1937 in Shattuck,Oklahoma; he was the son of Clifton Albert and Laura Evelyn (Weir) Kahoe. Jim grew up south of Sharon where he attended and graduated from Sharon Schools. He was married to Fredda Earlene Main in 1955 and briefly lived in California before returning to Oklahoma later that year where he worked for Cowden until 1957. Jim then moved his family to Selman and began his career with the Farmers Coop. In 1959, he relocated to Avard and served as manager for the Farmers Coop and then moved to Mooreland in 1960. His first position with the Mooreland Farmers Coop was bookkeeper. He later took over as manager in 1964 and continued his service until 1976. That same year, Jim married Meryl Gardner Holloway and went to work for Production Credit Association as a field man. He retired in 1991 in the position as Vice President. Jim farmed, as a hobby, for 40 years in Curtis until turning over the operation to his son, Jim. He served on the Mooreland City Board for six years, the Mooreland volunteer Fire Department for twenty years, six of which he served as Chief, was a member of the Mooreland First United Methodist Church and also drove the Mooreland school bus in his retirement years. Jim is survived by his wife, Meryl of Mooreland; four children, Jim Kahoe of Mooreland; Nancy Foster and husband Tracy of Tulsa; Kim Nielsen and husband Gary of Mooreland; Monte Kahoe of Oklahoma City; four stepchildren, Mike Holloway and wife Denise of Mooreland; Molly Lockwood of Mutual; Katy Wanger and husband Donald of Fort Supply; Michelle Farrow and husband Devin of Mooreland; one brother, Richard Kahoe and wife Debbie of Woodward; one sister, Marilyn Radcliffe and husband Kenneth of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother-in-law, Verlon Lehman of Woodward; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, infant brother, J. C. Kahoe and sister, Charlene Lehman.
