Eva Janet (McClellan) White was born November 6, 1934 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Clyde Coe and Florence Maude (Kendall) McClellan. She was raised in the Baptist Church in Strong City that her grandfather helped to establish. Janet also attended school in Strong City. In 1946, the family moved to Mooreland. On August 13, 1950, Janet married Theo Lester Starr of Mooreland. Janet and Theo made their home in Mooreland before moving to Pratt, Kansas and then finally to Pasco, Washington. To this union four children were born; Ronald Dean, Bobby Lee, Debra Jo and Carol Lorraine. On December 13, 1978, Janet married Earl Melvin White of Quinlan in Hugo, Oklahoma. Earl and Janet made their home on the farm at Quinlan and in Mooreland. Earl and Janet farmed and ranched until Earl’s death in 2005. Janet continued to manage the farm after Earl’s death. Janet loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially when everyone got together for Christmas. Christmas was always her favorite holiday. She enjoyed the lights and decorations and had an extensive collection of Christmas collectibles. She loved to plow and raise baby calves. Jan would have loved to keep plowing the fields, but often complained that her kids wouldn’t let her. She kept her hands busy with crochet, needle work and sewing. She was an excellent seamstress. In her younger years, Janet loved music and dancing. Janet also spent many hours tracking down family history and ancestry. Janet was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Dean, her husband Earl Melvin White, her parents Clyde McClellan and Florence Gray and her brother James Elwyn McClellan. She was also preceded in death by two very special uncles, Jack Kendall and Elwyn Kendall.
