J.D.'s Story

J.D. Lafleur, 69 year old Clinton resident, died Monday, September 5, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the church fellowship hall until 4:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.

John Dillard "J.D." Lafleur was born on July 6, 1947 in Woodward, Oklahoma the son of John Amos and Marjorie (Irvin) Lafleur. J.D. spent his childhood in Woodward, attended Woodward schools and graduated from Woodward High School with the class of 1966. J. D. served in the United States Army from July of 67 until July of 1970 during the Vietnam Conflict. He completed his basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana and radio tech school at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He then served in Vietnam for one year, then Italy. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SPC-5- Army-R-Signature Cor and returned to Woodward. J.D. was united in marriage to Pamela Esther Kamolz on March 24, 1972 in Pam's parents home. The couple made their home in Woodward. J.D. and Pam moved to Clinton in February of 1973 where J.D. began his career with the Clinton Fire Department. While working as a firefighter J.D. held several part time jobs including, photographer, electrician, and also worked at Shamburg's. J.D. retired in February of 1998 at the rank of Lieutenant. After retirement J.D. continued his fathers business John's Extinguisher Service for several years.

J.D. enjoyed his family and loved spending time with them, he also spent time hunting, fishing and always looked forward to going camping with he and Pam's camping club.

He was a member of the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association, Clinton Noon Lions Club serving as president in 2002-2003.

J.D. was born into the First Christian Church in Woodward where he was baptized. Later in life he was confirmed into the Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, Oklahoma and most recently was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Weatherford, Oklahoma.

J.D. is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Pam Lafleur of the home; one son, John H. Lafleur of Clinton; one sister Margie Smith and husband Michael D. Smith of Woodward; two brothers-in-law, Steven Kamolz and wife Sandy; and Gary Kamolz all of Holden, Missouri; sister-in-law, Judy Kamolz of Woodward; several nieces; nephews; cousins and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. And Marjorie Lafleur; and infant sister, Alpha Marie Lafleur; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Louise Kamolz; and one brother-in-law Bradley Kamolz.
