Ileta's Story

Ileta Merle Day Allen, 88 year old from Vici, OK and formally of Camargo, OK passed from this life on March 7, 2015 at the Woodward Hospital in Woodward, OK. Ileta was born in Camargo on October 23, 1926 to Jimmie and Mildred Coursey Day. She was the oldest of seven children. Ileta was raised in Camargo attending Camargo Public Schools and graduating as President of the Class of 1945. While in school she played basketball, softball, and was part of the 4-H Club. Ileta continued her education becoming an LPN, Dietary Manager, and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Ileta married Marvin Ellsworth Allen on May 9, 1945 in the Vici United Methodist Church. They were blessed with two children, Doris Louise and Wallace Wayne. They made their home on the farm east of Camargo later lived for a period of ten years in Woodward, but always made Camargo their home. After Marvin’s passing, Ileta moved to Vici where she lived at the time of her death. Ileta worked at the Woodward Hospital as an LPN, the Vici Nursing Home as both the Director of Nursing and later as the Administrator. She also served as Administrator at the Grace Living Center in Woodward. She was a member of the Better Business Women, Woodward OHCE, Bridge Club, and a proud member of the South Canadian Neighbors. Ileta won many ribbons at the county fair for her jelly and home made bread, and hand work. Her cinnamon rolls and hot rolls where famous at community fund raisers, church dinners, and funeral dinners. She was an avid Thunder fan and cheered them on every game. Ileta was baptized at the Camargo Christian Church in 1951. She was a current member of the First Christian Church in Vici and had attended the Woodward and Camargo churches. She had a love for all three. She served as an officer for the ladies ministry and was a Sunday school teacher. Ileta was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mildred Day, husband, Marvin Allen, daughter, Doris Louise McDannald, son, Wallace Wayne Allen, and brothers Jimmie Gayle Day and Verlin Day. Survivors include, grandchildren, Donnie McDannald and wife Tammy of Vici, OK, Teresa Robertson of Enid, OK, Ranae Parry and husband Scott of Camargo, OK, and Wayne Allen of Mooreland, OK; great-grandchildren, SaVana Denton and husband Kyle of Blair, OK, Stetson McDannald and wife Karla of Vici, OK, Olivia, Jillian, and Coriella Parry of Camargo, OK, Rachel Robertson of Enid, OK, and Cory Mitchell of Vici, OK; great great-grandson Mason McDannald of Vici, OK; son-in-law David McDannald of Vici, OK; sisters, Arlene Mercer of Kingfisher, OK, Linda Newton of Trezevant, TN, and Kay Salisbury and husband Russell of Cheyenne, OK; brother, Ray Day and wife Bonnie of Camargo, OK; special sister-in-laws, Wilma Day and Elloise Day; special loved ones Gary and Wanda Riseley; many nieces and nephews other loved ones; and numberless friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday March, 11, 2015 at 10:00 am at the First Christian Church, Camargo, Oklahoma with burial following in Camargo Cemetery, Camargo, Oklahoma.
