With her husband at her side, Helen Louise Jackson, 71 years old, of Enid, Oklahoma formerly of Woodward, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Bass Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma after a short battle with cancer. Memorial services were held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward with the Reverend Jeff Ralston officiating.
Helen was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on January 27, 1945 to Jack and Ruth Crites Caruthers. She attended Woodward schools and on September 20, 1961, she was united in marriage to Richard Jackson. They had just celebrated their 55th anniversary this year.
The first few years of their marriage were spent living in Norfolk, Virginia, where Richard was stationed with the Navy. Their first child, Ricky, was born while living there and their daughter, Tina, was born 13 months later. They returned to Woodward when Tina was just a few months old, and had lived in Woodward for many years before moving to Enid in 1990.
Family left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard; her son, Ricky Jackson and her daughter, Tina Doane, all of Enid. She is also survived by grandchildren Clint Jackson and wife, Jennifer of Utah; Candice Prichard of Enid; and her great-granddaughter, Celeste, who was the light of her grandma's life. Also surviving, is her only sibling, her sister Marvella Parks of Woodward, and many nieces and nephews. Helen was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Bohn and Jack Caruthers; brothers-in-law, Lon Parks, Buddy Jackson, Andy Jackson and Robert Leroy Jackson; by her sisters-in-law, Edna Marie McDowell and Dixie Lee Ramey; and by her father-in-law, Walter Jackson.
