Greg Taylor, 69 year old Woodward resident, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Oklahoma City. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Mooreland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Gregory Lynn Taylor was born on January 24, 1947 in Whidbey Island, Washington to Roy Francis and Martha Winona (Leighnor) Taylor. Due to Greg's father being in the Navy, the family moved several times during his childhood. Greg graduated from Mooreland High School in 1966. He served in the United States Marine Corp. After his honorable discharge in 1972, Greg attended Barber School and began working at the Main Street Barber Shop. He was united in marriage to Yvonne Marie Ramirez on January 7, 1974 in Canadian, Texas. The couple made their home in Mooreland. In 1988, Greg moved to Woodward and lived here since that time.
He enjoyed building model cars, music, singing and playing his guitar as well as reading comic books. He especially loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Greg appreciated all of his loyal customers and noticed when it had been a while since they had been in. He didn't often show it, but if you knew him, he deeply cared about people, his country and especially his family.
Greg is survived by his son, Gerald Taylor and fiancé Eve Landry of Woodward; his daughter, Wynona Lusk and husband Rick of Follett, Texas; grandchildren Taylor, Levi, and Gregory Lusk, Serik and Gabriel Taylor; brother Robert Taylor and wife Beth of Springfield, Missouri; sisters Margie Wells and husband Jeff of Plains, Kansas; Libby Atchley and husband Kerry of Liberal, Kansas; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Ray Taylor.
