Frank Thomas, 69, of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Woodward, Oklahoma, Frank served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy. Following military service, Frank graduated from Memphis State University and began his coaching and teaching career at Swifton High School. In 1979 he accepted a coaching position at Quitman High School then moved to Valley View High School to coach the Blazers from 1981-1995. He continued to teach at Valley View until his retirement in 2008, completing a 33 year career. Frank was passionate about basketball and loved sharing that passion with his players. Frank was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro and enjoyed wood working, gardening and golf. In his later years he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin "Brownie" and Eva Ada Thomas, and a brother, Bobby Max Thomas, and brother-in-law, William Castor. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Cleo Thomas of the home; daughter, Kerri Watson (Scott) of Paragould, Arkansas; son, Greg Thomas (Holly) of Bartlett, Tennessee; son Chris Thomas (Sarah), of Jonesboro, Arkansas; brother Melvin “Mickey” Thomas (Teresa); sister, Kay Brewer (Steve) of Fargo Oklahoma; sister Danna Castor of Perryton, Texas. Frank is lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Watson of Paragould; Ethan, Evan, and Elliot Thomas of Jonesboro. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. Funeral services are Friday at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro.
