Marie Chapple, 90 year old Mooreland resident, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 12, 2017 in the First Baptist Church of Mooreland with Reverend David Houchin officiating. Interment will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Elma Marie Chapple was born on March 10, 1927 in Curtis, Oklahoma; the daughter of Elmer Asa and Elizabeth Ann (Davis) Highfill. Marie grew up on the family farm eight miles North of Mooreland. She attended Pleasant Hill Grade School and graduated from Mooreland High School. She worked at the phone office after high school. Marie was united in marriage to Kenneth Eugene Chapple on December 8, 1946 in Ashland, Kansas. They made their home in Mooreland. Marie baked pies and cakes for the local café. In the 1960's Marie became a beauty operator until her retirement.
Marie enjoyed taking bus tours throughout the United States with her sisters, looking for arrow heads at the farm, her greatest joy was her family.
She was a member of the Mooreland First Baptist Church. She was involved in various church activities. Marie loved her church family.
Marie is survived by her son, Milton Chapple and wife Janis of Mooreland; grandson, Bradley Eugene Chapple of Salina, Kansas; three great-grandchildren, Tyler; Skylar; and Hunter; two sisters, Lela Brock of Commerce, Texas; Vera McNaught of Claremont, California; several nieces, nephews other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; son, Roddy Eugene Chapple; two sister, Mary and Jane.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mooreland First Baptist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
