Douglas's Story

Douglas R. Laubhan, 84 year old former Woodward resident, died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at his residence in Enid. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Shannon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Douglas Ray Laubhan was born on February 25, 1931 in Follett, Texas to Albert George and Vera Georgia (Farmer) Laubhan. The family moved to Woodward in 1936, where Doug attended school. He graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy in 1949, and attended Oklahoma State University and received his degree in 1954. He was united in marriage to Ann “Karen” Williams on July 15, 1954 and was inducted into the United States Air Force in 1954 and served his country in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1957, at which time he and Karen made their home in Woodward, Oklahoma. Doug owned and operated Laubhan Motors in Woodward for a number of years and was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church. Doug enjoyed riding motorcycles and restoring motor homes, but most of all he loved being with his grandchildren, and loved spending time with his friends and family. Doug is survived by his wife Karen Laubhan of the home; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Kapka and husband Mike of Enid; one son, Kent Laubhan and wife Jody of Alva; grandchildren, Paul Kapka, Lucas Kimbrough, Katie Kimbrough-Dale, Lisa Kapka-Mackey, Dylan Kapka, Landon Laubhan; two sisters, Patty Richter and husband Earl, and Sydney Courington and husband Newt, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Peggy Green. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Woodward with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
