Derald's Story

Derald T. Louthan, 79 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dale Hayford, and the Reverend Tommy Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Derald Theodore Louthan was born on November 4, 1936 in Nampa, Idaho to Theodore and Lois (Letner) Louthan. Derald grew up in several different places including Nampa, Idaho and Wyoming. His father was a circuit preacher who traveled all over the country. He graduated from Vici High School in 1955. He was a cook for the Army Reserves for a period of time. He was united in marriage to Janice Marie Maddux on January 20, 1961 at the Freedom Nazarene Church in Freedom, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Alva before moving to Mooreland, Okmulgee, back to Mooreland and then Woodward, where they have lived for the last 37 years. Derald started working at the Alva Grocery Store and when they moved to Mooreland he ran the Mooreland Gas Station and operated the Mistletoe Express in Mooreland, Okmulgee and Woodward. He was a trucker for Davis Mud for years before owning his own trucking company, but his favorite job was trucking for J&R Service. He retired from J&R but came back out working for Woodward Ace Lumber for the last three years, where he spent his last moments. He was a member of the Wesleyan Nazarene Church. Serving his Lord was Derald’s desire from a young age. He was passionate and dedicated to his mission being his own backyard. He studied constantly learning to better teach about his Lord, who he served faithfully. Derald loved reading his Bible or anything he could find, he loved to read. He is survived by his wife Janice Louthan of the home; one son, Kim Louthan and wife Linda of Woodward; two daughters, Lois Hines and husband Rex of Woodward, LouAnn Bowen and husband Bobby Stephens of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; four grandchildren, Candice McCullough and husband Jeremy, Lucinda Bowen, Logan Louthan, Shannel Louthan; three great-grandchildren, Lillian, Addison, and London; one brother, Lynn Louthan of Enid; one sister, Marilyn Davis and husband Tommy of Bethany; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Glenda Allbritton of Collinsville, Roger and Mary Jane Maddux of Swink, Colorado, and Elmer and Rita Maddux of Freedom; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Lois Louthan, step-mother, Garnett Louthan, sister-in-law, Donna Louthan and brother-in-law, Johnny Allbritton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodward Wesleyan Nazerene Church Building Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
