Dennis Dale Baird was born on January 16, 1959 at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Key West, Florida, where his father was stationed in the Navy. Dennis was the second of four children born to L.D. and Kaye (Smith) Baird. He started school in Moanaloa Grade School, Honolulu, Hawaii. The family later moved back home to the family farm near Sharon, Oklahoma and Dennis attended high school at Sharon-Mutual Schools, graduating in 1977. He attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Northwestern Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma. After a short time living in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, he moved home to Oklahoma and took his first job in the oilfield. Dennis was united in marriage to Brigette Howell on November 24, 1990 in Woodward. To this union one daughter was born, Chloe Grey. Dennis repaired plunger lifts for many years for McLean Plunger Lifts. Later he worked in customer service and as a Branch Systems Administrator for Mutual of Omaha. In 2006 he went to work for Gray Wireline as a wireline operator and eventually worked as a wireline engineer. He was most recently working for J-W Wireline. On February 16, 2008, Dennis was united in marriage to Monica (Sibley) Frech. They made their home south of Woodward. Jack of all trades and master of many, Dennis lovingly built his own home from the ground up, doing everything from the framing to the plumbing and electrical to the painting and tile work. Working on it only on his days off, it took many years, but it is a true showplace and living testament to how much he loved his family. Dennis enjoyed sports. He was in a bowling league in his youth, played football in high school and always enjoyed tennis with his friends. Dennis had a true passion for live theater. He played several roles and directed several plays. He even had to learn sign language to direct one play. Dennis was an avid reader and lifelong teacher. He considered every moment in life a teaching moment and loved to teach family members and friends about science and philosophy. Dennis started flying about thirty-five years ago, flying hang-gliders and ultra-light airplanes. Dennis is survived by his wife Monica of the home; his daughter, Chloe Baird of Edmond; father, L.D. Baird and wife Evelyn of Vici; one sister, Sam Doornek and husband Tom of Woodward; one brother, Gary Baird and wife Alex of Edmond; step-children; Ricky Frech of Stillwater; Matthew Frech and his fiancé Mikayla Goad of Edmond; Taylor Frech of the home; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Educational Fund of Chloe Baird with the funeral home accepting the contributions. Remembrances may be shared online at www.billingsfuneralhomewoodward.com
