Debra K. Tate (Thorne), 53 year old resident of Mooreland, died Monday, December 1, 2014. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Woodward, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Phillip Ludwyck officiating, with interment in the Mooreland Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Billings Chapel in Mooreland from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Debra (Debbie) Thorne was born February 19, 1961 in Garden City, Kansas; the daughter of Violet (Vi) and Gerald (Bill) Thorne. Debbie attended Straight, Oklahoma School from 1st grade through 8th grade, and attended Hooker High School graduating in 1979. She attended Panhandle State University graduating in 1983 with a Degree in Elementary Education. Debbie began her teaching career at Gate, Oklahoma teaching kindergarten and 5th/6th Math from 1983 until 1991. She then taught 4th grade at Mooreland from 1991 until 2013 when she retired with 30 years of service. She married James (Jim) Tate in 1986. They lived in Gate, Oklahoma until 1991. They moved to Mooreland, Oklahoma in 1991 and live there to the present. Debbie enjoyed time with family and friends, church, teaching, gardening, bird watching, music, her pet dogs, sports, and life itself. She is survived by her parents, Bill and Vi Thorne of Chanute, Kansas; husband Jim Tate; two daughters Erin and Brooke of Mooreland; sisters Sherri Thorne and Mona Wautelet of Oklahoma City; brother Mike Thorne and wife Sue of Leawood, Kansas; Aunt Judy Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri; Aunt Lila Wilson of Horton, Kansas; Aunt Norma Peterson of Muscotah, Kansas; Great Aunt Dolores Thorne of Norman, Oklahoma; Uncle Robert Thorne and wife Vera of Barlesville, Oklahoma; Uncle Bill Speer of Horton, Kansas; sister-in-law Barbara Carter and husband Mike of Mooreland; brother-in-law Ronnie Tate and wife Dena of Enid; sister-in-law Louise Lones of Arkansas; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronnie William Tate of Mooreland; Great Grandparents Gerald and Lillia Thorne of Garden City, Kansas; Great Uncle Maurice Thorne of Norman, Oklahoma; Great Uncle Alden Thorne and wife Marylane of Bentonville, Arkansas; Great Aunt Gladys Jones of Leon, Kansas; Grandparents Glen and Bertha Wilson of Muscotah, Kansas; Uncle Bill Wilson of Horton, Kansas; Aunt Betty Sawyer of Horton, Kansas; Aunt Carol Mink-Speer of Horton, Kansas; and Uncle Jerry Mink of Atchinson, Kansas and cousin, Rhonda Mink-Hess of Olathe, Kansas.. Memorials may be given to the Ronald McDonald House with the funeral home accepting the donations. Remembrances may be made at www.billingsfuneralhomewoodward.com
