Carter D. Guthrie, 54 year old Mooreland resident, died Friday, August 19, 2016 in Mooreland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Sharon with the Reverend Junior Zollinger officiating. Burial will follow in the North Persimmon Cemetery, east of Sharon. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Carter Dean Guthrie was born on August 14, 1962 in Weatherford, Oklahoma to H.C. and Phyllis (Love) Guthrie. Carter grew up in Sharon and attended Sharon Elementary School and Mutual High School. He graduated from Liberal Vocational Tech with a Diesel Mechanic certification. He went to work for Broce Construction and worked there as a Plant Foreman for over 20 years.
Carter attended the Sharon Baptist Church. He enjoyed the country life, farming, hunting and fishing with his kids. He was a wonderful father of two and a grandfather of three. Carter was a man loved by all and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by one son Mitchell Guthrie; one daughter Kasey Heistand; his parents, H.C. and Phyllis Guthrie; three grandchildren Lillian Flying Out, Mya Flying Out, Colton Flying Out; three sisters, Kim Klick, Penny Guthrie, Amanda Crabtree and husband Shawn; nieces and nephews, Allison Klick, Devry Klick, JoLee Guthrie-Denton, Aspen Crabtree, Denym Crabtree, Aunyx Crabtree; cousins, Kellie and Ronnie Hickman, Patty Jo Bender, Beth Miles, Bill J. Clem, Jamie Brace, Jennie Moore, Teresa Johnston, Michael Love, Brad Love; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his cousin and friend, W.T. Bender, grandparents, Joe and Claudia Guthrie, Lee and Virginia Love, Uncle Homer Love, and cousin Rickie Love.
