Alma Dean (Burkhart) Stanley, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 16, 2015, with her family by her side in Woodward, Oklahoma. She was born on October 23, 1925 in Waynoka, Oklahoma to William Henry and Mary Frances (Perkins) Burkhart. Alma grew up on a farm near Mooreland, Oklahoma. She graduated at the top of her class from Mooreland High School class of 1943. Alma married Joe Forest Stanley on April 13, 1946. They made their home in Woodward for a while, then moved following her husband’s work. They eventually moved to Fargo, Oklahoma where they raised their children. Then in 1970 they moved to Elk City, Oklahoma where they made their final home. Alma and Joe were blessed with seven children, four boys and three girls. Besides being a wonderful mother, Alma was known for her outstanding cooking and baking that no one could resist. She was a member of the Nazarene Church. Her interest included church, family, cooking, reading, writing poetry, playing games and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2015 at First Assembly of God Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. Rev. Kevin Akin will officiate. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. She is survived by her children, Joyce Smith and her husband, James of Leedey, Oklahoma, Kenneth Stanley and his wife, Kaye of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Gary Stanley and his wife, Jane of Woodward, Oklahoma, Lawanda Crain and her husband, Ralph Lee of Woodward, Oklahoma, Dennis Stanley and his wife, Jackie of Elk City, Oklahoma, Darrell Stanley and Veronica Ray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sharon Smith and her husband, Larry of Mustang, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren. Alma is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Stanley; her parents, William and Mary Burkhart; siblings, Florence Alice (Burkhart) Lockhart, Clara (Burkhart) Miller, Burla (Burkhart) Miller, Clytie (Burkhart) Horner, Margaret Marie (Burkhart) Miller, Leonard Burkhart, George Ivan Burkhart, Gerold Burkhart and Richard Burkhart. She was a wonderful, Godly woman and was dearly loved by her family and friends, she will forever live in our hearts and memories.
