Alberta's Story

ALBERTA MAE (Thomas) Jones Allen, age 67, of Woodward (formerly of Chester), passed into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Alberta was born on December 7, 1947 at Woodward, OK to Arley and Leona Thomas. She was raised and educated in May, OK. Alberta was married to Bob Jones in Woodward on March 4, 1967, a union of 44 years until Bob’s passing in 2011. Later, on June 1, 2013, Alberta was united in marriage to Johnnie Allen at the Elm Grove Church in Chester, and the couple then made their home in Woodward. Alberta was widely known for her job as a cook at various restaurants in the community including the Chester Café, Seiling Senior Citizens Center, Hill’s Café, and the old Shamrock Café. Many have fond memories of her noodles, baked pies, and cinnamon rolls. In her spare time, she enjoyed flower gardening, camping, canning, and taking care of her chickens on the farm in Chester, she liked them so much that she collected chicken memorabilia for many years. Alberta had been baptized in Ft. Supply Lake growing up in May, OK. She was a member of the Elm Grove Community Church and spent a lot of time helping with the Elm Grove Women’s Group. Alberta was preceded in death by first husband, Bob Jones; father, Arley Thomas; two children, Leroy Jones and infant Brenda Kay Thomas; and brother Tuffy Thomas. She is survived by her husband Johnnie Allen of the home; two children Betty Hunter and husband Kevin of Ft. Supply and Troy Jones and fiance Heather Rose of Seiling; daughter in law Melissa of Meno, OK; two step-children Ken Jones and wife Sonja of Ft. Supply, and Martin Jones of Seiling; and Johnnie’s children Shannon Davis and husband Eugene, and Shawn Allen and wife Teri; her mother, Leona; four sisters, Evelyn Byers, Ann “Aldena” Moody, Jean Stophone, and Nancy Debeer and husband Carl; six brothers, Eldon Thomas and wife Kathy, Dennis Thomas, Vernon Thomas, Glen Thomas and wife Violet, Donald Thomas and wife Karen, and Bob Thomas and wife Kay; twelve grandchildren Michael Jones and wife Brandy, Debbie Grosvenor, Zach Hunter, Brian Jones, Ashly Jones, Melissa Rocha, Allen Jones, and Tori Rose, and Johnnie’s grandchildren Brittany Gaisford and husband Ross, Bradley Davis, Morgan Allen and fiancé Paul Gonzales, and Dylan Allen; eight great grandchildren, as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of friends. Services will be held at the Elm Grove Community Church in Chester at 10:30 on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 with Pastor Orville White and Reverend Dennis Adair presiding. Burial will follow in the Hope Cemetery with her brothers Eldon, Dennis, Vernon, Glen, Donald, and Bob Thomas serving as casket bearers. Alberta’s family have entrusted her care, services, and burial to Bart Watkins and the rest of the caring staff at Redinger Funeral Home.
