Tommy Hayes Lucas, Sr., 76 year old Woodward resident passed away Friday, June 30, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in the St. Peter Catholic Church. A private family burial will be held at a later date with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Tommy Hayes Lucas, Sr. was born on May 5, 1941 in Woodward, Oklahoma to James Lucas and Gertrude (Henderson) Lucas. Tommy grew up in the Woodward area and graduated from the Woodward High School. After high school, Tommy served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1962 to 1968.

He was united in marriage to Carol Lankas on September 18, 1985 in Clayton, New Mexico. They made their home in Woodward, Oklahoma. Tommy owned and managed Lucas Nursery for many years.

Tommy enjoyed golfing, watching OU football and OKC Thunder basketball, and going to casinos with Carol. He loved watching his grandkids play sports. Spending time with his children and grandchildren is what gave him the most joy.

He was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church and was a former member of the Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife Carol Lucas of the home; three sons: Tommy Lucas, Jr. and Denise; Kenny Wederski and Dayna; Timmy Wederski, all of Woodward; a daughter: Teresa Tucker and Curtis from Roxana, Illinois; two special sister-in-laws: Cyndi and Terry Deibert; Jennie and Stanley Umbarger, from Kansas; eleven grandchildren: Kelly, Tanya, Glen and Ami Murphy; Kelsey, Brandi and Keagan Wederski; Britney, Ashton and Devin Wederski; Ryan; eleven great grandchildren: Aubree, Aiden, Mackenzie and Kristen Murphy; Jaeda and Celtyn Wederski; Bracen, Tori and Shawn Wederski; Savannah and Warner Schwarz; several nieces and nephews, cousins and high school classmates.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gertrude Lucas and a sister, Laura.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Peter Catholic Church RCIA program with the funeral home accepting the donations on behalf of the family.
