Thelma “Shorty” Smith, 80, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 in the Grace Living Center in Woodward. Cremation has taken place and the family will have a private family gathering at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Thelma Lois Smith was born on January 16, 1935 in Whitney, Texas to William Leonard and Floy (Hewett) Perry. Shorty grew up in Keota and graduated from Keota High School. She was united in marriage to Vergil Smith on December 31, 1968 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They made their home in Tulsa and Schulter, Oklahoma. Shorty worked as a Seamstress and a child care worker. She loved sewing and being with her family. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by her sisters, Vera Bell of Woodward, Beulah Gaugh of Van Buren, Arkansas, Carolyn Crandel and husband Ray of Van Buren, Arkansas; sister-in-law Shirley Perry of Keota, Oklahoma; other relatives and friends. Shorty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vergil, and two brothers, Franklin Perry and Kenneth Perry. Remembrances may be shared online at www.billingsfuneralhomewoodward.com
