Ted's Story

Ted E. Hensley, 85 year old Woodward resident, died Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Woodward Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Teddy Eugene Hensley was born on March 25, 1929 at the family home on 7th and Santa Fe in Woodward, Oklahoma to George Richard and Julia Bell (Thompson) Hensley. At a young age Ted’s father got sick and Ted stayed home to take care of him so his Mom could work and provide for the family. He went to work for Henry Hunter’s Laundry in Woodward and that is where he met the Love of his life, Anna. He was united in marriage to Anna Marie Seals on August 28, 1949 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They were blessed with four children, Julia, Richard, Ronald, and Dianna. They made their home in Woodward before moving to Denver, Colorado for a short period. The family moved to Medicine Lodge, Kansas in 1952 and Ted went to work for a wall board company. They moved back to Woodward in 1960 and Ted started working in the oilfield for B.J. Services. He continued working for them as a Truck Driver and in Maintenance until his retirement in 1986. Ted was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and was very active in his church, teaching elementary boys Sunday School Class. He always loved driving the church bus and calling on families. Ted also helped build the Church Bus Ministry. Ted enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anna Marie Hensley of the home in Woodward; one son, Ronald Hensley Sr. and wife Lisa of Birmingham, Alabama; one daughter, Dianna Mae Mingus of Woodward; son-in-law, Joe Farrell of Woodward; seven grandchildren, Jeffery Farrell and wife Danylle of Collinsville, Bryan Lee Farrell and wife Michelle of Woodward, Christina Farrell, Ronald Hensley Jr. and wife Kelly of Rogers, Arkansas, Randy Hensley and wife Shannon of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Jennifer Wright and husband Drake, June Mingus; 16 great-grandchildren, Gracie, Laynee, Madison, Jayson, Carson, Bryson, Kyle, Kedrin, Noah, Alexia, Kaden, Kacen, Carter, Grayden, Blake, Elyson; four step-grandchildren, Noah, Chloe, Max, Laney; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Richard Hensley in 1991, one daughter, Julia Farrell on March 6, 2010, one brother, Roy Hensley, seven sisters, Edna Warriner, Mae Smith, Mildred Jackson, Velma Hesman, Anna Hurst, Ethel White, and Gladys Moore.
