Steve Whipple, 63 year old Woodward resident, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at his home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

John Stephen "Steve" Whipple was born December 27, 1952 in Perryton, Texas. He was the third of four children born to John Henry and Pauline (Shropshire) Whipple. He grew up in the Oklahoma panhandle and western Oklahoma. He lived in Balko, Adams, Turpin, Sharon, Arnett, and Custer City, where he graduated from high school in 1971.

Steve married Linda Sue Williams August 16, 1974 in Arnett, Oklahoma. They had two sons John Bradley and Justin Ordith. They lived in Guymon for six years then moved to Woodward. He worked in Concrete Construction in Guymon. When he moved to Woodward he drove a truck for Oklahoma Cement then he worked for the City of Woodward Water Department until he retired due to health issues.

Steve had many interest's and hobbies. He loved hunting and fishing with the family. He also loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports. Steve was an avid OU football, OU softball, and Oklahoma City Thunder fan. His favorite times were family dinners and holiday gatherings. He will be deeply missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Whipple and mother Pauline Shropshire Whipple Barker and one brother Charles Edward Whipple.

He is survived by his wife Linda Sue Whipple of the home; two sons, John Bradley Whipple and wife Sharla of Woodward, Justin Ordith Whipple and wife Jessica of Mustang; sisters Jonna Johnson and husband Mike of Norman, Judith Ramirez and husband Louis of Guymon; brother-in-law Joe Williams and wife Brenda of Arnett; sister-in-law Rhonda Puckett and husband Ron of Arnett; sister-in-law Liz Whipple of Woodward; nine grandchildren Sierra, Braden, Grace Lea, Ethan and Oliver Whipple and Taylor, Jordan and Shayln Borth; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
