Sonny Fowler, 74 year old Woodward resident, died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at his home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Beau Hague officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Dewaine Lee "Sonny" Fowler was born on October 14, 1941 on a farm near Mutual, Oklahoma to Alvin and Olive E. (Grove) Fowler. Sonny attended Woodward Schools. He was united in marriage to Sandy Jean Walton on September 24, 1965 in Shattuck, Oklahoma. They have made their home in Woodward since that time and raised their family. Sonny worked in the oil field his entire life. He started at McCullough Tool Company before going to work for Brand X. Sonny retired from American Logging and Perforating 18 years ago.
He loved his family, was a loving husband, a supportive father, and caring grandfather. He just enjoyed life!!!
Sonny enjoyed all sporting events, and tried to attend all the local events. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooner football fan and made all of the home games with his friend Gary Bowser. He also enjoyed his morning coffee buddies, riding his Harley and doing yard work.
He attended the 1000 Hills Ranch Church.
Sonny is survived by his wife Sandy Fowler of the home; daughter, Delaina Jeter and husband Greg of Woodward; son, Justin Fowler and wife Monica of Norman; four grandchildren, Jerrett and Teagan Fowler; Rayna and Jeb Jeter; four sisters, Wanda Merchant and husband Jack of Woodward; Ann Shuyler and husband F.W. of Woodward; Alice Hale of Vici; Alvina Janow and husband David of Woodward; four brothers, Jim Fowler and wife Brenda; Ron Fowler and wife Midge; Bobby Fowler and wife Diana; Danny Fowler and wife Georgette all of Woodward; several nieces, nephews, cousins other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Ellen, one brother Donnie and one brother-in-law Vestal Hale.
Memorial contributions may be made to 1000 Hills Ranch Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
