Sam Golden, 90 year old Fort Supply, Oklahoma resident died Thursday June 8, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Gordon Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Samuel Lee "Sam" Golden was born on March 3, 1927 to Samuel Edward and Ida Mae (Thomas) Golden. He attended Fort Supply schools graduating from Fort Supply High School. Sam spent the majority of his life in Fort Supply, other than when he served his country in the United Sates Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Sam worked for Western State Hospital for 37 years. While working at Western State Hospital he met and married Elona Louise Williams. They were blessed with three boys, Lawrence; John and David. He also worked as the Fort Supply Town Marshall for 20 years. He also served on the Fort Supply Volunteer Fire Department.

Sam loved to fish, he could catch crappie when no one else could. He regretted that his three sons could not learn how to filet a fish. Although it may have been that it was just easier for him to do it. Sam had an easy going way about him, he accepted everyone as they are. He never met a stranger and loved to visit.

Sam is survived by his three sons, Lawrence Golden and wife Karen of Fort Supply; John Golden and wife Dolores of Broken Arrow; David Golden and wife Tege of Yukon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Loyd Golden of Woodward; lifelong friend and like a brother, Pete Munson and wife Rachel of Fort Supply; fishing buddies Larry Soliday and Wayne Kornele; several nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elona; brother Tom Golden; sister, Pearl Ann Golden.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Providence Place and Faith Hospice for taking care of "Mr. Sam" as they affectionately called him.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Providence Place, Faith Hospice, Fort Supply School or the Fort Supply Fire Department with the funeral home accepting the contributions. All were special to Sam.
